I got a chance to walk through the senior show this past week. Lots of great concepts and projects stood out to me, but Ben Puffer’s work was by far my favorite. Initially drawn in by the bold colors and typeface, I saw that his project involved taking the superlatives out of popular advertising slogans. This intrigued me because I have always been interested in the role that design plays within marketing. Ben’s work shows that good design can still work well without conforming to society’s idea that bigger and louder is better. The form of his pieces were also interesting as the viewer had to step around and take time to experience each piece from multiple angles, something that is heavily avoided in today’s advertising world. Overall, I think it was a very successful look into a very interesting subject.
